Tizzana Winery Bed & Breakfast (Ebenezer)

“Australia’s astonishingly rich and intriguing multi-cultural history is on display at the Tizzana Winery Bed and Breakfast. It was originally the estate of a young Florentine surgeon, Thomas Fiaschi who migrated to Australia at 22 in the early 1870’s. He planted wines herein the 1880’s and it is still one of only two vineyards in Australia to produce the sublime Aleatico varietal. Tizzana’s two guest suits shimmer with the estate’s Italian origins” says Simon St John of ‘Beautiful Accommodation’.
Located in a private and separate section of the winery building, the two purpose-built suits are spacious and decorated in a restrained contemporary style. The Provincial suite with its king-size slay bed has views over a vineyard of vines and lake of waterlilies. The Rose room has a magnificent Tuscan ambience, with French windows that open onto a timbered private verandah. The guest lounge – once the winery processing room – is filled with local art and historic curios.
Breakfast is served adjacent to the commercial kitchen that overlooks the vines. One of the highlights is an optional five course dinner with matched Tizzana wines but for those that would like to explore the local fare, Windsor is just 15 minutes away.
Relax- taste some of the local wines and produce in the Tizzana cellars – walk amongst the vines and olive grove – visit the local historic Ebenezer church – take a short drive on one of the few remaining car ferry’s in Sydney – if you feel energetic explore one of the surrounding National Parks and Wollemi Wilderness - enjoy a game of golf at one of the local courses or just stay awhile, and allow this quiet valley to work its magic.

Kurrajong Trails and Cottages (East Kurrajong)

Wollemi National Park is NSW largest wilderness area where rugged sandstone terrain protects endangered animal and plant life, including the spotted quoll and Wollemi Pine.
Kurrajong Trails and Cottages offers hundreds of acres of private property with bush walking tracks prolific with wild flowers and views over Wheeny Creek wetlands, home to wedge tailed eagles and black cockatoos. Walk quietly and you are sure to encounter the nuggety swamp wallaby (they also love our veggie garden).
We have dirt tracks for bike riding and flood plains for horse riding. Our canoes are ready for you to explore peaceful Wheeny Creek, with sandbars for picnics, deep holes for swimming, shallow areas for children to play and fishing holes. Watch for the tiny blue kingfisher nesting along the banks and Willie Wagtails protecting nests on overhanging branches.
The area was originally settled by “ticket of leave” convicts who were provided with 40 acre “starvation” blocks. Their descendants lasted into the twentieth century before flooding and meager existence from farming and cattle raising forced them from the valley.
Our four solar powered, rain watered cottages sit on top of the ridge. Each cottage is fully furnished including towels and linen, and sleeps six with queen bedroom and four single beds in the loft above. They have wood burning heater, gas hot water and stove and a wood barbeque on the lawn.
Lawns and gardens blend into native bush surrounding the huge entertainment shed with open fire place, ideal for parties, families or groups. Everything is designed for minimum intrusion into this pristine area but we do have a quiet generator to power your favourite band or jukebox. As seen on “Getaway”, Kurrajong Trails and Cottages is a haven for children and pets. Only one and a half hours drive from Sydney’s CBD. Horse yards available.
The Hawkesbury and Colo Rivers merge 10 kms away where boats can be launched. Historic Windsor, final resting place for many First Fleeters, 25 min drive. Beautiful Kurrajong Village boasting gourmet restaurants and gift shops, 20 min drive. Mt Tomah botanic gardens, one hour scenic drive with the Zig Zag railway further on.
